Results of Clinton's Obama Bashing: Obama Gains a 2-1 Edge In Electability
The ABC News Washington Post poll shows that by a 10-point margin Democrats would prefer Obama as the party's nominee, and is considered more "electable" in the general contest by 2-1.
... public impressions of [Hillary Clinton] have taken a sharply negative turn. Today, more Americans have an unfavorable view of her than at any time since The Post and ABC began asking the question, in 1992. Impressions of her husband, former president Bill Clinton, also have grown negative by a small margin.
In the new poll, 54 percent said they have an unfavorable view of Sen. Clinton, up from 40 percent a few days after she won the New Hampshire primary in early January. Her favorability rating has dropped among both Democrats and independents over the past three months, although her overall such rating among Democrats remains high. Nearly six in 10 independents now view her unfavorably.
Obama's favorability rating also has declined over the same period but remains, on balance, more positive than negative.
Meanwhile, a Philadelphia Daily Newa/Franklin & Marshalln poll shows Obama "within striking distance" of Clinton in Pennsylvania, having narrowed her lead to 6 percentage points, 46% to 40%. In the same poll last month Clinton's lead was 16%, at 51% to 35%. And in North Carolina, an InsiderAdvantage poll shows Obama with a 51% to 36% lead in North Carolina.
